Job Title: Head of Rail
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 - Negotiable for the Right Candidate + & Generous Company Benefits & Bonus Structure.
My client is an Ambitious and Growing Consultancy Business who work within Civil Engineering, Construction and Design in the Rail Sector
They are currently growing year on year in the UK and turn over approximately £50 Million. Due to significant growth and future growth plans, they are now looking to hire an Experienced Head of Rail to be based out of the Manchester Office covering all new business and design contracts throughout the North West. .
Reporting to and assisting the Managing Director and the Rail Director, the Head of Rail will take responsibility for all Rail Related Activities across the North West. This will include bidding for and winning design projects from pre-existing Framework Agreements and Business development activities.
The key objectives are
To promote and establish the business as a leading civil & structural engineering consultancy
To build and manage a financially sustainable division that has key clients who provide predictable sales and profit streams.
To build and manage a sustainable team of suitably experienced and qualified employees and associates who are capable of both managing and delivering customer requirements on time, in full and on budget.
To ensure the Manchester Rail – Civil & Structural division remains compliant, observes all up to date industry practices, codes of conduct and protects the health and safety of all its employees.
Key roles & responsibilities
Business development and securing key clients within the NW rail industry.
Securing regular and ongoing projects from key rail clients.
Managing on time, in full, on budget delivery of projects.
Recruiting and managing suitable personnel
Mentoring, professional development and PMR’s for direct reports.
Establish ongoing income to cover divisional costs.
Bring on board (and or develop existing) key clients.
Subject to any client variations, deliver all projects on time, in full and on budget.
Maintain 100% compliance for all essential business accreditations and zero reports for H&S and safe guarding issues.
Will be ambitious, enthusiastic and ready to take on new challenges.
They should be willing to work flexibly as the business requires, and be prepared for some travel throughout the North West for Client Meetings and Networking Events.
In addition, the successful candidate will posses two main and significant attributes.
* A Civil/Structural Design engineering background through experience and qualification
* Full Commercial understanding and demonstrable P&L responsibility
* Strong Contractual Understanding
* Experience working in a Senior Management team
* Identify areas for business growth
* Be able to focus on building the business in North West.
* Have great connections within the industry and utilise these to win design projects and develop into ongoing work.
* Have a strong Civils/Structural design background within the Rail Environment to ensure projects are delivered accurately and to specification.
* Demonstrable focus on building and developing design teams
* Be able to demonstrate design skills and assist in rail Specific Design Projects and Commissions.
